Hermosso vs Freepik AI

Competitor details checked against their own pricing and documentation on 30 August 2026. These move fast — if something below is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

Freepik's centre of gravity is its library. Decades of stock photography, vectors and templates, with AI tools layered on top — and since April 2026 those AI tools carry the Magnific name. You subscribe for the catalogue and generate when the catalogue does not have it.

Hermosso has no catalogue. Everything is generated for you, which is a worse answer when a generic image would have done and a better one when it would not — because a stock library, by definition, does not contain photographs of you, your product or your client's living room.

What Freepik does better

The library is the product, and it is enormous. If a decent generic image will do the job, pulling one from Freepik takes seconds and costs nothing extra. Generating it takes a prompt, a wait and a credit. For a great deal of everyday design work, stock simply wins.

They are also cheaper to start, have design templates we do not offer, and include audio models alongside image and video.

What Hermosso does better

A library cannot contain your face. Nor your product, nor the room you are selling. Everything we do starts from that: personal personas, 67 curated packs, product and UGC work, and a full interiors studio.

Built by architects for spatial work. The Studio came out of a working architecture practice, which is why it holds a room's structure by default and takes materials from supplier images rather than adjectives — the two things a stock library and a general generator both get wrong about design work.

Production features a library does not need. A UGC ad studio that turns a product URL into finished talking clips, Style DNA moodboards that distil your references into a reusable taste profile, and a REST API over every tool drawing on the same plan credits — included with Studio, no second invoice.

Specificity beats availability when the brief is specific. A stock photo of "a woman in an office" is available instantly; a photo of you in that office is not available at all until something generates it.

Credits that never expire, which suits project work far better than a subscription you must use or lose.

The verdict

Choose Freepik if most of your work can be served by an excellent generic asset, or you want templates and a library alongside AI at the lowest entry price.

Choose Hermosso if your work is about specific people, products or spaces — headshots, brand content, UGC ad creative, property visuals — where no library will ever have the image you need.

For many agencies the honest answer is both, with Hermosso as the base layer for the subject and Freepik for the backdrop.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hermosso a Freepik alternative?

For the AI generation half, yes. For the stock library, no — we do not have one and are not building one. If the library is why you subscribe to Freepik, we do not replace it.

Why generate an image when stock is cheaper?

When a generic image serves the brief, it usually is not worth generating one. The case for generation is specificity: a photo of you, your product, your client's property. No library contains those, at any price.

Does Freepik have AI headshots?

It has AI image generation, but no personal model training — so it cannot produce consistent photos of one specific person across many shots, which is the core of what an AI headshot service does.
